Meet My Dogs

Being a member of the dog sport community for over 14 years means I am well versed in a variety of situations and have trained many dogs in various capacities.  This knowledge and experience gets applied to every dog that is under my care to make sure they have the best experience possible during their stay.

Hadley and Miah

Hadley

CHWPD4, CHWPDW1, CHWPDR1 Calluna verursacht immer Probleme, MR1, MR2, CGC, CGCA, BN, FITB, DS, DM, HDS, WPDW, WPDXW, WPDSW, WPDSR, WPDXS, WPDSS

Hadley is an 8 year old Belgian Malinois that is highly titled in W3PO weight pull, holds an MR2 title in Mondioring, has obedience titles with AKC, and has several NADD dock diving titles.  She had to retire from Mondioring due to injury so now she is working towards additional Rally and obedience titles with AKC,  Dock Diving Titles with IDS and NADD, as well as learning scent work as a retirement sport.  Her favorite thing to do outside of training is chewing on a kong, but she loves to work and do things for me no matter what it is.

Hadley experienced a severe soft tissue injury around the age of 6 and due to her breed and ability to work through the pain it went unnoticed for several months.  This injury ultimately led to her early retirement from mondioring.  She has been seeing a rehab specialist ever since, does rehab exercises at home regularly to keep her as sound as possible, goes to a chiropractor and receives acupuncture, and is on several supplements and occasionally needs medications.  She also receives PEMF therapy at least weekly to help her maintain her injury so she can continue being active.  She is a miserable dog when she doesn't have a job to do and isn't ready to retire completely just yet.

Blitz Summits

Blitz

CHWPD3, CHWPDW1, CHWPDR, Red Rocket’s Billy CGC, CGCA, WPDW, WPDXW, WPDSW, WPDR, WPDXR, WPDSR, WPDS, WPDXS, WPDSS

Blitzkrieg aka Blitz is a 7 year old Belgian Malinois that is highly titled in weight pull with W3PO and he holds several AKC obedience titles.  He enjoys weight pull more than any other sport we have tried, but his favorite thing is playing frisbee.  He also enjoys watching TV with his favorite triceratops toy, playing tug, going hiking or on walks, and sunbathing.

Blitz is a special needs dog and was recently diagnosed with Pannus, which is an autoimmune condition that affects the cornea and clear part of the eye.  He requires life-long treatment to help slow the progress of the disease, but he will likely go blind in his lifetime.  He requires daily eye medications and he must wear Rex Specs to help minimize UV exposure that can make his condition worsen.  He receives PEMF therapy regularly to help with his eye condition, his anxiety, and for overall performance.

Tsar Summits

Tsar

CHWPD BDK/MMWD's Tsar Bomba WPA, WPDW, WPDXW, WPDSW, WPDSR, WPDSS

Tsar is a 3 year old American Pitbull Terrier.  He has already earned several titles in weight pull with W3PO.  He also enjoys sunbathing, snuggling under the covers, and anything that involves food.  He also enjoys scent work but is likely too nervous to ever compete, so he just plays at home for fun.  Tsar is also affectionately called "Potato" since he was very tiny as a puppy, which is how he got his nickname.

Tsar requires a monthly at-home allergy injection to help maintain his severe environmental allergies.  He is also allergic to eggs so his diet and supplements cannot include eggs.  He also gets baths often during allergy season to help prevent skin infections.  Tsar has extreme anxiety and panics in new settings if he feels afraid, often without much warning.  Through training he is now functional where he feels comfortable, but he still struggles in new places.  Since his extreme fear response poses a danger to his safety, he is now on medication to help him cope with the things that he finds scary in the world.  He receives PEMF therapy at least monthly to help with his severe anxiety and nervousness, for his allergies, and for overall performance.

Fu

Fu dock diving

Lobifu FITB, DS, DM, DE, WPDW, WPDXW, WPDSW

Fu is a 2 year old Belgian Malinois that has titles in dock diving and weight pull, but he also does rally and flyball.  Flyball is by far his favorite sport, but he loves anything where he can go full speed and unleash his crazy side for a toy.  Fu is named after a rabbit, but he isn't friendly at all and only likes his mom.  He truly loves just doing anything with me, even if it's curling up in bed or watching TV.

Fu was a behavioral modification case that required extensive training to show him that people aren't scary and that he could have lots of fun even with strangers around.  He does not like people, never has and he never will, but now he will tolerate them, and he will even play with some people with his tug toy.  He still gets anxious at times, but with proper training he is now able to play in a variety of sports.  He also gets PEMF therapy at least once a month to help him relax, to treat any bumps or bruises from being a crazy boy, and for overall performance.  He gets "spun up" very easily so a lot of his training and life has been keeping him calm so he can think clearly.

Vixen

Vixen

JK9s Foxy Lady

Vixen is a 1 year old Border Collie that was an unplanned purchase from Craigslist.  After learning about two dogs listed for sale from a not so great owner, I decided to meet them to purchase these dogs to give them a chance at a better life.  Vixen was missing hair, matted in the places the owner forgot to cut off, covered in her own urine, urine stained with severely irritated skin, and malnourished.  From my research and understanding, Vixen came from a hoarding situation where the owner has a history of neglect, abuse, and mistreatment of her dogs.  From my experience and impressions, Vixen had never left a crate in her entire year of life and was likely shut in a crate with multiple dogs at once.  She had never seen grass, birds, leaves, or even blankets or bowls.  She didn't really walk much for over a day, didn't know she could run until I showed her how, and had no idea what a treat or a toy was.  She refused to go to the bathroom anywhere but inside her crate, would drink her own urine if she had an accident, and had no issues laying in her own filth.  She is also covered in scars from other dogs attacking her and the former owner even stated her older dogs would fight with her because they found her annoying.  Despite all of this, she is a sweet girl that truly loves life and thankfully had a mostly clean bill of health.  She is still currently learning to be a dog, but I hope to do flyball or other fun dog sports with her in the future.

Loki
8/21/2010 - 11/16/2020

Loki

Loki Alexander Hoerath CGC, CGCA, CGCU

Loki, a boxer, was my first dog as an adult on my own and he threw me into the dog training world.  He got kicked out of several dog training facilities and we ended up with a balanced trainer due to his severe dog aggression issues.  He trained in obedience, weight pull, and scent work during his prime and in his golden years he mostly enjoyed naps and going on walks or hiking.  He sadly passed away from a mass on his spleen at 10 years old.

Loki was a special needs dog and needed a ton of special care throughout his life, including behavior modification due to his aggression issues.  He had extremely severe environmental and food allergies that had to be constantly managed.  He was actually highly allergic to fish, among other things, and he had extreme reactions to many environmental things that would require emergency care if ingested or exposed to at a high concentration.  He was on several medications for various things as well as monthly allergy injections and had many medical issues throughout his life.  He was the 2nd dog I started treating with PEMF therapy for a fused spine and neck injury and we figured out it helped greatly with his allergies!

Athena
7/8/2013 - 4/15/2023

Hurricane Athena Kirsch CGC, CGCA, CGCU

Athena

Athena, a German Shepherd, was actually a wedding present to ourselves because my husband grew up with a German Shepherd and it was a breed I had always wanted.  Athena also forced me to approach new training methods after she was attacked severely as a puppy by another dog, causing fear-based reactivity.  She never responded well to food or toys so praise is what she worked for, she loved being told how amazing she was.  She was a phenomenal scent work dog and she also trained in weight pull and obedience.  We lost her at just 9 years old suddenly to cancer.

Even with extensive training, Athena's reactivity had to be managed throughout her entire life.  She also had some medical issues and at the age of 5 she was diagnosed with severe arthritis in her spine.  She managed well, but would often need assistance getting into the car, among other places, and needed medication to help treat this condition.  She also was the first dog that got me started with PEMF therapy, which she received regularly throughout her life.
